Beyond Brushing: Why Comprehensive Dental Care Matters

Regular teeth cleaning and checkups are essential for maintaining your oral health, encompassing not only your teeth but also your gums and the entirety of your mouth. This comprehensive cleaning process eliminates plaque, tartar, and bacteria responsible for decay, gum disease, and persistent bad breath. Hygienists possess the expertise to access challenging-to-reach areas that typical home brushing and flossing may miss. Furthermore, thorough cleanings and examinations provide hygienists and dentists with an ideal opportunity to monitor your oral well-being, detecting and addressing issues before they become painful and costly.

Additionally, routine teeth cleanings naturally enhance the whiteness and brightness of your teeth without the need for bleaching treatments. These cleanings serve to:

  • Eliminate plaque, a sticky bacterial substance that erodes enamel.
  • Remove tartar buildup, hardened plaque that could lead to gum disease.
  • Eradicate stains from coffee, tea, or other sources on your teeth.
  • Examine for receding gums, chipped or broken teeth, and other indications of disease and infection.

What to Expect During Your Teeth Cleaning Appointment

Gum Health

Your gums play a crucial role in supporting your teeth and enhancing your smile. During your visit, we’ll carefully assess your tongue, gums, teeth, and all areas of your mouth, paying special attention to the gum line. Our goal is to ensure your overall mouth health, keeping an eye out for any signs of inflammation or potential gum disease. Rest assured, we’re here to help without being too hard on you about your flossing habits.

Plaque & Tartar Removal

Plaque, that soft and sticky film on your teeth, can lead to trouble if not regularly cleaned away through diligent brushing, flossing, and professional care. When left unattended, it hardens into tartar deposits, often darker in color and tricky to remove, especially along the gumline. Our skilled hygienists have the tools and expertise to delicately scale away these stubborn deposits from hard-to-reach places. Once that’s done, we’ll give your teeth a thorough polishing to remove stains, leaving your smile gleaming.

Professional Exam

Following your cleaning, it’s the ideal moment for a comprehensive dentist examination. We’ll review your dental chart and x-rays, focusing on any problematic areas or concerning patterns. Your dentist may recommend further treatments or provide valuable advice on how to prevent or reverse tooth decay, inflammation, or gum disease. We’re here to address any questions you may have or listen to any discomfort, sensitivity, or dental pain you’ve experienced. Your oral health is our priority.

Dental Checkup Costs and Coverage in Barrie

Regular checkups and cleanings are a valuable means of dental prevention, often covered in full or in part by insurance companies every six months. If you lack dental insurance, you can anticipate costs ranging from $120 to $300 and potentially more, especially if it’s your first visit or a long-overdue cleaning.

The actual cost of your treatment depends on several key factors, including:

  1. Your current oral health.
  2. Whether new x-rays are necessary.
  3. The time required by our dental team to address your unique needs.
  4. The equipment and supplies essential to meet all your requirements.

These routine appointments hold significant importance for us, as they are the most effective way to avert more invasive treatments, prevent severe dental discomfort, and prioritize your happiness and well-being. Your oral health and satisfaction are our top priorities.

Walking in, I was greeted by two lovely ladies who were so pleasant & kind. Very welcoming environment. My fiancé had a different Dentist & Hygienist at his visit & he raved about his experience & how comfortable they made him feel which definitely eased my anxiety of going to a new place & feeling judged. My Dental Hygienist Heather was so informative & down to earth. She truly knows her stuff, gets to the point, & of course did a phenomenal job on my cleaning. She made me feel comfortable! The best experience I’ve had. They went through my X-rays which was honestly great, because I got an understanding of everything she was trying to convey about my cleaning which has never been done before in my past experiences. I didn’t feel judged at all which is always nice given that going to the Dentist can be intimidating. She’s hands down amazing at what she does. Mr. C was great too, dropped some knowledge & thoroughly communicated with myself & Heather about my oral health. It didn’t feel rushed, yet at the same time they got to the job done efficiently, given the time frame and expense. Great experience over all. We’ll definitely be back.

Have been with this practice for nearly 30 years. Always good. But my last visit was beyond my expectations. My hygienist was SO thorough and informative. Best of all, she was non-judgmental! Thanks again for a good job, we'll done!

My experience was excellent. Sally gave me the most thorough cleaning I have ever experienced to date. She was very kind as I am a very, very fearful client and my anxieties were at a minimum. My only regret is that Dr. Kauldhar will not be able to do my upcoming dental work if I decide on the Root Canal as I have utmost faith in his work and I really fear not having the conscious sedation to which I am accustomed. However, whether it be regular filling or root canal, I will put my trust in the Eastview Dental team as a whole as soon as I decide. Marcia D'Antimo.
