Beyond Brushing: Why Comprehensive Dental Care Matters

Routine dental cleanings and checkups are vital for preserving your oral health, covering your teeth, gums, and entire mouth. Professional cleanings effectively remove plaque, tartar, and bacteria that can cause cavities, gum disease, and chronic bad breath. Dental hygienists have the skills to clean hard-to-reach areas that regular brushing and flossing may overlook. These visits also allow dentists and hygienists to monitor your oral health, identifying and addressing potential problems early, before they become serious or costly.

In addition, regular cleanings naturally enhance the brightness of your smile without requiring whitening treatments. These appointments help:

  • Clear away plaque, which contributes to enamel damage.
  • Remove tartar, a hardened form of plaque that can lead to gum issues.
  • Lift stains caused by coffee, tea, and other beverages.
  • Identify receding gums, damaged teeth, or other signs of oral health concerns.

What to Expect During Your Teeth Cleaning Appointment

Gum Health

Healthy gums are the foundation of a strong and beautiful smile. During your appointment, we’ll inspect every part of your mouth, including your tongue, teeth, and gums, focusing on the areas near the gum line. This allows us to spot any early signs of gum issues or inflammation. Don’t stress—we’re here to assist you without judgement about your flossing routine.

Plaque & Tartar Removal

Plaque is a soft layer of bacteria that can cause damage if not cleared away regularly. Over time, it hardens into tartar, which is more difficult to remove, especially near the gums. Our hygienists use professional tools to gently clear these deposits and then polish your teeth to remove surface stains, giving your smile a refreshed appearance.

Professional Exam

After your cleaning, the dentist will conduct a thorough review of your dental health, using x-rays and charts to identify any potential problems. They’ll offer recommendations for care or treatments and answer any questions about discomfort, sensitivity, or other concerns. We’re committed to ensuring your oral health is in the best possible condition.

Dental Checkup Costs and Coverage in Barrie

Routine dental checkups and cleanings are an essential part of preventive oral care and are often partially or fully covered by insurance providers every six months. For those without dental coverage, fees typically range from $120 to $300 or more, particularly for first-time or overdue visits.

The cost of your dental care can vary based on several factors, such as:

  • The current condition of your teeth and gums.

My senior Mom wanted me to post on her behalf. She had a lengthy appointment with Dr. Krupali Mistry and assistant Suleymi this past week. Gisela has never been so incredibly pleased coming out of the office as she was with her visit at Eastview Dental. “Best dentist office ever” she said. She is actually looking forward to her next appointment. Very pleased with every aspect of the visit. All of the receptionists/office staff are always amazing, kind and accommodating as well. Thank you all for taking such great care of your patients.

My mother has trusted Eastview Dental for nearly 20 years, and now I understand why. I hadn’t gone regularly due to not having a dental plan, but when I developed pain from a cracked tooth, they took me in with such gentleness and care. They even offered a payment plan, guided me clearly through what I needed, and also told me about a Government dental program I was eligible for but didn’t know existed. Recently during an exam they discovered a deep jawbone infection (I had no pain, but something that could have become very serious). I’m so grateful it was caught early. Dr. Mistry is my favourite Dentist ...kind, thorough, and has an excellent bedside manner. The office staff is genuinely warm, welcoming, and supportive, you feel it the moment you walk in. I feel truly cared for every time I’m there. I Highly recommend this Dentist office.

It’s always a great experience here. I don’t normally like the dentist but when I arrive and am greeted by Birgit, Cindy and Ondrea my nerves are calmed. They are so sweet to schedule with and you can tell they genuinely care. Dr C is by far the most highly skilled dentist I have ever encountered. 10/10 would never consider another office.
