What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small metal screws designed to replace missing teeth. Through a minimally invasive surgical procedure, our experienced dentist places the implant into the jawbone, mimicking the role of a natural tooth root. To achieve a lifelike appearance and function, the implant is then topped with a dental restoration, typically a crown, ensuring it blends seamlessly with your smile.

Choosing dental implants is a significant decision, and we understand you may have questions and uncertainties. Our goal is to provide you with comprehensive information and guidance, empowering you to make an informed choice regarding your dental treatment.

Walking in, I was greeted by two lovely ladies who were so pleasant & kind. Very welcoming environment. My fiancé had a different Dentist & Hygienist at his visit & he raved about his experience & how comfortable they made him feel which definitely eased my anxiety of going to a new place & feeling judged. My Dental Hygienist Heather was so informative & down to earth. She truly knows her stuff, gets to the point, & of course did a phenomenal job on my cleaning. She made me feel comfortable! The best experience I’ve had. They went through my X-rays which was honestly great, because I got an understanding of everything she was trying to convey about my cleaning which has never been done before in my past experiences. I didn’t feel judged at all which is always nice given that going to the Dentist can be intimidating. She’s hands down amazing at what she does. Mr. C was great too, dropped some knowledge & thoroughly communicated with myself & Heather about my oral health. It didn’t feel rushed, yet at the same time they got to the job done efficiently, given the time frame and expense. Great experience over all. We’ll definitely be back.

Have been with this practice for nearly 30 years. Always good. But my last visit was beyond my expectations. My hygienist was SO thorough and informative. Best of all, she was non-judgmental! Thanks again for a good job, we'll done!

My experience was excellent. Sally gave me the most thorough cleaning I have ever experienced to date. She was very kind as I am a very, very fearful client and my anxieties were at a minimum. My only regret is that Dr. Kauldhar will not be able to do my upcoming dental work if I decide on the Root Canal as I have utmost faith in his work and I really fear not having the conscious sedation to which I am accustomed. However, whether it be regular filling or root canal, I will put my trust in the Eastview Dental team as a whole as soon as I decide. Marcia D'Antimo.

How Dental Implants Can Prevent Facial Changes

Your natural teeth play a vital role in maintaining the integrity and aesthetics of your smile, as well as ensuring comfortable eating and clear speech. However, when a gap appears in your smile, it can set off a chain reaction where neighbouring teeth may shift out of alignment, increasing the risk of oral health problems and impacting your overall well-being. Even beyond these immediate effects, there’s another challenge you can’t escape: bone resorption, a natural process where your body reabsorbs non-essential bone tissue for other purposes.

While your natural teeth exert pressure on the jawbone, stimulating the production of new bone tissue, the absence of teeth leads to a loss of bone density in the jaw. This can result in a shortened jaw and chin, leading to facial wrinkles and a sunken appearance in the cheeks and lips.

Fortunately, dental implants offer a remarkable solution, closely mimicking the function and appearance of natural teeth. By choosing dental implants, you not only prevent or address the issues mentioned above but also significantly improve your oral health and quality of life.

    Transformative Benefits of Dental Implants

Losing a tooth can have a profound impact, affecting both our self-confidence and overall health. The presence of gaps in our smile can lead to discomfort while eating, potential bone loss, and teeth shifting out of alignment.

    Here’s why dental implants shine:

    1. Restoring Your Natural Appearance: Dental implants seamlessly blend in with your smile, becoming permanent fixtures that are custom-crafted to match your unique bite and enamel color. Their natural look and feel help you regain confidence in your smile.
    2. Confidence in Comfort: Dental implants bond with your jawbone during the healing process, ensuring stability. Whether they support a crown, bridge, or implant-supported dentures, you can laugh, smile, and savor your favorite foods without worrying about shifting teeth or sudden discomfort.
    3. Strengthening Bone: Tooth loss can lead to the weakening of the supporting bone structure. Dental implants, on the other hand, stimulate new bone growth around the implant site, improving overall bone strength.

Experience the long-lasting, natural, and enduring solution that dental implants provide – a smile that feels like your own and can last for decades with proper oral hygiene.

Enhancing Your Smile: Dental Implant Restorations Explained

When it comes to dental implants, the restoration is the key to a seamless and natural-looking smile. While the implant itself remains hidden beneath your smile, it’s the restoration that gives the appearance of a brand-new tooth.

Here’s a breakdown of common dental implant restorations:

    1. Dental Crown: The go-to solution for a single-tooth implant, a dental crown covers the implant, providing a lifelike replacement for your missing tooth.
    2. Dental Bridge: When multiple adjacent teeth are missing, a dental bridge spans the gap, and it can be supported by just one or two implants. For a complete upper or lower arch restoration, a full implant-supported bridge is an excellent option, anchored by four or more implants.
    3. Implant Denture: Enhance the stability of your removable denture by attaching it to two small implants, offering a secure and comfortable fit.

These dental implant restorations not only restore your smile’s aesthetics but also provide the functionality you need for a confident and comfortable everyday life.

Comfort and Confidence: How Does an Implant Feel?

While the idea of having a metal implant inserted into your jawbone may sound daunting, the reality is far more comfortable than you might imagine.

    Here’s what you can anticipate:

    • Painless Procedure: We ensure your comfort by numbing your mouth with a mild anesthetic, eliminating any pain during the surgery. Advanced dental technology allows for precise and efficient implant placement, reducing discomfort and minimizing downtime during your recovery.
    • Relaxed Experience: Many implant patients find the procedure surprisingly uneventful, with some even feeling bored or sleepy during the brief half-hour it takes to place their implant. Holding your mouth open for short periods may be the most uncomfortable aspect.
    • Manageable Discomfort: It’s normal to experience some swelling, discomfort, and possible bruising in the hours following the procedure. However, the pain is typically mild and easily controlled. We provide specific instructions to help you minimize any discomfort before the anesthetic wears off, and you should start feeling better at the surgical implant site within a week.

Rest assured, dental implants boast an impressive success rate of nearly 95%, making them one of dentistry’s safest and most reliable procedures. Your comfort and well-being are our top priorities throughout the entire process.

A Guide to the Dental Implant Treatment Journey

Embarking on your dental implant treatment journey is a smoother and more comfortable experience than you might anticipate. Here’s what to expect along the way:

    Asessment

Your journey begins with a dental implant consultation, where your dentist assesses your suitability for implants. X-rays and a 3D cone-beam CT scan are taken to evaluate your jawbone’s condition and plan your treatment. Additionally, a scan or impression of your teeth aids in planning the precise angulation of your implant.

    Inserting the Implant

During the procedure, we administer an anesthetic to ensure complete numbness at the surgical site. Your dentist creates a small opening in the gums and bone of your mouth, where the implant post is carefully placed. In some cases, sutures may be needed to close the gums.

    Finishing Touches

After the implant placement, you’ll return home to allow the implant to heal over the next few months. Upon your return to our practice, your dental restoration will be ready. We will expertly place the restoration, and you will leave with a fully functional, brand-new tooth, seamlessly integrated into your smile.

    Contact us today

to schedule an initial consultation & exam.

Your consultation will include an examination of everything from your teeth, gums and soft tissues to the shape and condition of your bite. Generally, we want to see how your whole mouth looks and functions. Before we plan your treatment we want to know everything about the health and aesthetic of your smile, and, most importantly, what you want to achieve so we can help you get there.

The Cost of Dental Implants in Barrie: What to Expect

In Barrie, the cost of dental implants can vary depending on several factors. For a single implant, you can anticipate a range of approximately $3,000 to $6,000 or more. Full-mouth reconstructive dental implants may range from $6,000 to $60,000 and beyond. If you’re considering a full set of implant-supported dentures, the average cost hovers around $30,000. It’s important to note that providing an accurate quote over the phone is challenging, as the dental implant procedure’s complexity depends on individual factors.

Several key factors determine the cost of dental implant surgery, including:

    1. Type and Number of Implants: The number and type of implants needed for your specific case play a significant role in determining the overall cost.
    2. Materials and Supplies: The quality of materials and supplies used in your implant procedure can affect the cost.
    3. Dental Team’s Expertise: The experience and skill of the dental team involved in your treatment influence the pricing.
    4. Surgery Complexity: The location and complexity of the surgical procedure are considered when determining costs.
    5. Recovery: Your recovery time and ongoing care are also part of the cost calculation, with support provided as needed.

Every patient’s situation is unique, making it essential to consult with a dentist for a thorough oral examination. This will allow the dental team to evaluate your specific needs and provide you with accurate quotes and various treatment options to consider.

While there are alternative solutions for missing teeth, such as dental bridges or removable dentures, it’s crucial to weigh the pros and cons. Dental implants may require a higher initial investment, but they offer greater security and durability compared to other options. With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime, while removable prosthetics may require adjustments or replacements over time. Ultimately, the choice depends on your individual circumstances and long-term goals for oral health and aesthetics.
